Appearance:
Keira stands at a fair height for her build, made mostly for quick speed and long enduring stamina, though it's hardly needed in lieu of her teleporting abilities. She is a pale skinned young woman with short black hair kept messy with ever-changing streaks of color. Her eyes are often described as creepy and she is confused for a blind person frequently due to the misty appearance. They have become a pure misty gray with no visible pupils, though she is still very much able to see.
As always, particular inflections of emotion still cause them to change colors, the most common being purple, but in some times of becoming enraged or truly sadistic, they are know to become pure black. Her usual night time attire is black, a long coat often resembling a hooded cloak at times, military grade boots and, ofcourse, gloves, just to be careful and avoid fingerprints. Her mask changes with her general mood, the most common one being a standard domino mask as worn by the Dark Knight's famous side-kick, Robin.
Personality:
Keira Grey is often seen as a model student, quiet, determined and quick to learn. Her tendencies to remain mostly a loner through her academic career makes her seem antisocial and for the most part, cold. Though she does hold demons in her past and closet, and remains enthusiastic, if only quietly so. Shy isn't quite the right term, being more of a selectively outgoing person. A determined mindset and incapability to let others down make her a loyal acquaintance.
When in charge of the safety of others, however, and in disguise, an entirely different side of the young heroine arises. The dark humor and cynicism makes her alliance questionable, though her actions make it evident that is without a dout a hero. Characterized by boldness when needed, and quick to act where it's seen fit, it's almost an entirely different person. Ecks also happens to be quite hard-headed at times, along with impatient.
Abilities & Weaknesses:
Powers/Abilities
- Teleporting ~ Kei has become an accomplished teleporter, pushing her previous boundaries and now able to travel a much farther distance than ever before. When disappearing and re-appearing, she leaves behind trails of smoke. Depending on how far her destination, her form will either travel as a moving form of dust or simply vanish altogether.
- Telepathy ~ Ecks has the ability to read minds, communicate without words and manipulate opinions. Though this ability she has a harder time progressing, there are some signs of it still having room t grow more powerful.
Weaknesses/Physical Flaws/Psychological Flaws:
- Easily killed ~ A gunshot or good stabbing ought to do it. She has a human mortality, after all
- Nightmares ~ With the extra-terrestrial guests, her telepathy has been having some short-circuiting that makes for strange accidents in her sleep.
- Water ~ She still has trouble teleporting to or from water
- Relatively weak ~ Built more for endurance and speed than strength, there's only so much she can carry when teleporting or otherwise
- Youth ~ there's still a lot to learn for her
History:
Keira Grey was born to a single mother, Selene Grey, a very familiar name around Gotham as a lawyer for some rather unsavory characters. They had quite a close relationship in the wake of not having a father figure around, making a little girl-power enthusiast of the young Kei. Being a lawyer, Selene knew how to leave things in order in the case of her demise, which occurred not long after young Keira's eigth birthday. She was left to be raised by a close friend of the family named Sebastian, and a decent amount of money as well as other gifts from her mother's will, which contained several ominous messages to the young girl.
From her young age, Kei was struck as a quiet and studious girl, who began hearing things in her sleep and occasionally finding herself in dreams not her own. She didn't share this curiosity with anyone, least of all her guardian, fearing that it might be mistaken for early signs of schizophrenia. Though as she developed, and puberty took place, enhancing her abilities and she began to focus on getting a hold on them, mostly, admittedly, for her gain. While money and social status don’t hurt, along with some of those unsavory characters from before remembering all too well the favors her mother did for her, true power over the minds of others struck a much deeper chord with Keira. Suddenly, perfect scores on her assignments and all manner of free things falling into her life became a completely ordinary occurrence.
Knowing all too well Gotham's history of villains, Keira eventually came to the cross-roads of what she would do with her powers, and her life. While it was easy enough to continue living with everyone agreeing with her and getting what she wanted effortlessly, she had a lifelong obsession with the city's famous Caped Crusader. Thus, out of pure devotion to that which is right and to not have her childhood tragedy befall another young child, Keira chose to don her old black costume and mask and take to giving telepathic lobotomies to everyday criminals. She still doesn’t quite feel guilty about any of that.
As time moved on, however, she began to find she had a secondary ability, much to her delight. With the ability of moving across the city in no time at all, her night time crusading took a spike in activity, leaving her daytime life to be quite exhausting. With time moving on and her aging, college began approaching and she hung up the cloak and mask for sometime, turning back to get her personal affairs back in order as her coming of age drew nearer. Life remained as normal for her as possible for sometime, getting back into the groove of school and once again earning a reputation for being a scholar. It did not last for long, however.
Being a citizen of Gotham meant many things, most importantly, two. To always be prepared to be killed by a raving lunatic, and to choose to be a victim or fight back. Seeing a rise in criminal activity in her city couldn't let her enjoy her normal life, and so, Keira returned to her old room and gathered her supplies to begin her night time excursions once more, this time becoming more than just a vigilante, but an established guardian of Gotham. Now finding balance between her hero work and a normal life, she's once again disturbed by the oncoming threat from outer space.
Being one for preparation, she's been making her way to the established academy for training new recruits to help in the event of invasion in hopes of being a part of preparing the younger recruits.
RP Sample:
In times of loneliness and the lack of enthusiasm to wander off grounds and to find entertainment where the more normal girls of her age would, Corona found her way to the manor's library. She thought that for the time she had already been a member of the household, she would be used to it by now, but try as she might, it still felt like a stranger's home, a stranger's books and strange corridors. Along with that came a fresh sense of hesitation each time she saw a book worth picking up. It still felt as though she was imposing just the slightest. It was simple enough to explain that to herself as having grown used to being alone and constantly on the move while she had been traveling.
The same routine as most nights, Corona preferred to avoid sleep after a particularly bad nightmare. It was one of the better points of being able to travel quiet as dust when she had to get out of her room later in the night. It'd probably be frowned upon if she was found, but it didn't matter much, as long as she was out of the dream-world. This being the case, she was already settled into her seat with a book on her knees. Tonight it was the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders keeping her company, yet again. It was the same listings she was going over again, worried about the state of her mental health at times.
And despite the fascinating information it regaled her, sometimes she was still prone to nodding off. Her eyes were beginning to blur over the tiny font, slowly slipping back from reality...the loud sound of the book dropping o the ground woke her up with a snap. Someone was screaming somewhere in the mansion and she didn't waste time getting to her feet and bolting out of the sacred library. There was another. And another. There seemed to be screams coming from every direction and Corona didn't know what to do. She panicked, with her chest feeling like a time bomb and her nerves beginning to cross and spark in disagreement with her standing still. In the middle of her panic attack she heard the familiar sound of a gun going off and then...
She woke with a start, letting out a short yelp when the book hit the floor. There were no screams, but she knew she wasn't alone anymore. The only reason she felt panic now was the dream wearing off and a good measure of embarrassment. While getting her breathing back on track she picked the book up and waited to see who it was that was up this late as well.
