This is our FAQ Center for those who have questions upon joining us here at End Wars. Here, this will explain what we are, who we are, and the main things that you need to know. Also, it saves us a lot of explaining of why things are there, and why all these characters are sharing the same universe with each other. Let's begin, shall we?
End Wars is primarily a DC Comics/assorted anime crossover RPG. I created the site in July of 2007 and have maintained at least some form of the site for the past four years. Over the years, we have evolved to this point and we'll definitely continue to evolve. From the End Wars Community to the main plot and the sub-plots associated, from the longevity to the open arms that our End Warriors will provide; End Wars will strive to be the best RPG experience that one can attain.
Through the years, we have configured an alternate universe called the End Wars Universe situated to fit such concepts as the Great Alliance (Japan's equivalent of the Justice League), the omittance of the New Gods and Darkseid (our apologies to the late, great Jack Kirby) for the Tartalians and the Imperium (two races that I will describe at length later), and the co-existence of characters from Bleach (for example) with a location like Gotham City. Where the Joker could definitely ruin Sailor Moon's day, or where Naraku could be a major thorn in Superman's rear end.
Recently, a new series dubbed Young Justice is giving the DC Universe a look that will mesh perfectly with what we offer in the EWverse. So, we're more so open to concepts from the Young Justice (technically Earth-16) universe than most of the DCU. But if you do have ideas, just let us (the staff) know and we can definitely work something out that will enhance your experience here at End Wars.
We will accept canons from the animes listed on the rules, canons from the DCU/Young Justice series, along with originals to make up the University of New Masada and the Zion Corps. If you have any questions or ideas, again...let us know, we're here to help!
Ah, the question that I get the most.
If it concerns a character from Marvel, Wildstorm, Image, etc...probably not. There's a multitude of DC characters to choose from, where one may use the Nolan-inspired Batman/Joker, and use characters from the Young Justice series. But if there's questions, let me...the Horned Frog, know. I'll be blunt and honest, but I'll be more than happy to answer your question.
As for anime...that's a different ballgame. Here's the rule: As long as the character fits in with the universe that we have created here at End Wars, they can work. However, that will be our call to make. We will tell you that the character may need to make modifications...either through their history, their powers, and so on and so forth. Besides that, we will stick to our canon list of series that is displayed on our Ground Rules.
The Great Alliance is made up of seven original members: Sailor Moon, Belldandy, Cutey Honey, Devilman, The Foreigner, Ichigo Kurosaki, and InuYasha. They were initially created by Tsukino Usagi when her allies (the Sailor Senshi) have already moved on with their respective lives and a new threat dubbed "Naraku" prompted the lead Sailor Senshi to find a 'new generation' of heroes to help defeat this new opponent.
Despite tensions between them and the egos incorporated into several members, they worked together to defeat Naraku and agreed that they would combine their forces in emergency situations.
After Naraku's defeat, the Alliance had Sailor Moon relegated to part-time status, Belldandy and InuYasha out on personal leave, and Devilman leaving the Alliance all together. To replenish their ranks, the Great Alliance brought in the Valkyrie Lind (on Belldandy's recommendation), The Oracle (as a liason between the Alliance and the Justice League), and Astro Boy.
However, with the Tartalian arrival on Earth, the Alliance were the first to respond to the Tartalian presence. Also, when the Justice League had arrived, the Foreigner (with the help of Belldandy) had already interpreted the Tartalian language and properly communicate with them. With a new headquarters in the making with the help of The Foreigner, the Tartalians chose New Masada Island as a base of operations with the Alliance's plan to train recruits to help defend and protect planet Earth.
This will be a two-part explanation.
First off, the Tartalians are the alien race to arrive on Earth to warn our heroes about the nefarious Imperium. Residing near the center of the galaxy, they have traveled thousands of years in 'generation' ships to reach their destination. The Tartalians are a strange creature, having both repitilian and mammalian traits. They have almost human-like reproduction methods while they produce eggs and grow protective of their nests. They possess a matriarchial society where their 'queens' or 'princesses' (in some cases) serve as leaders of their 'clans'. They are militaristic and pride themselves on their fighting prowess and personal honor among their male and female warriors.
An older species than that of humanity, the Tartalian history is not unlike ours. Like our nation-states, they were divided into 'Clans' who would constantly go to war with one another over land, resources, selective strains of their overall gene pool. The "Wars" raged and ravaged the Tartalians until a legendary race dubbed the "NADIS" (pronounced 'na-dee-ss') came unexpectedly to their home planet of Tartalia. They taught them space travel and granted them technology that enabled them to gather their resources from their solar system and take to the stars. Along with technology, the NADIS gave them unity among the Tartalian race along with a religion and creed that is resounding like humanity's own Christianity. The Tartalian religion describes a savior that is not of Tartalian descent, yet will save them from themselves and that of the enemy of the NADIS.
For decades, they prospered as the NADIS moved on and warning them of a dangerous race. When the dangerous race arrived in the form of the Imperium, the Tartalians were caught off-guard yet fought vigorously to protect their own interests, but soon fell under the massive technological and numerical advantages the Imperium possessed. Pressed with defeat, the Tartalian Clans ventured to the stars as well as crashing Imperium technology to continue their fight. With these continued skirmishes with the Imperium, the lone known clan of Tartalians have arrived on Earth...seeking assistance from humanity.
Not much is known about the Imperium other than their superior weapons technology and their overwhelming numbers. According to the Tartalians, they are the 'dark brethren' of the NADIS and sought to wipe the NADIS from the galaxy. Despite these odds, the Tartalians and leaders from both the Great Alliance and the Justice League seek to use small yet precise strikes using elite members of both organizations to render the Imperium fleets unable to quickly overwhelm their forces. However, if the Imperium does conquer the planet, all of the allied forces will be intact through optical cloaking of New Masada's boundaries to continue the fight as well as seeking to liberate Earth in short time.
Believe it or not, the Justice League is a large factor. Before the Tartalian arrival on Earth, the League carefully watched the Alliance form and were anticipating either direct competition to League hegemony or potential conflict with the new organization. However, with the Tartalian landing on Earth, League policies changed drastically. Although the Alliance was chosen, the Justice League has been secretly funding New Masada as well as agreeing to ally themselves with the Alliance and the Tartalians when the Imperium does arrive in the solar system. So until the Imperium arrives, it's business as usual for the League.
The University of New Masada was created when the Tartalians selected the Great Alliance's headquarters as their own headquarters on Earth in the face of the looming Imperium threat. Due to Tartalian reports of the Imperium's superiority in numbers, there was a common agreement amongst the Tartalians and the Alliance to develop an academy to develop an 'army of the gifted': where members of the Alliance would personally recruit young people with talents and abilities in effort to train them into suitable members of the Great Alliance while defending Earth from any sort of Imperium activity.
Students of New Masada University are not unlike their normal university counterparts in terms of college traditions and with the allowance of alcohol on campus (only available to students over 18), that allows for more 'excitement' among the student populace. According to Alliance members, the allowance of parties and alcohol, although controversial, provides relief to the strenuous activities provided by the faculty, who are Great Alliance members and associates.
The campus is expansive and surrounds the "Great Hall", the main headquarters of the Great Alliance. There are classroom buildings and training centers that are built to provide the students the best they can be in terms of being a Great Alliance member. Due to the tropical nature of the South Pacific, most of the facilities are indoors or possess a retractable roof. Everything is state-of-the-art due to the combination of human, Shinigami, Tartalian, and Yggdrasilian technology.
Once the student graduates from the University of New Masada, they either go back to civilization as 'sleepers' for the Alliance. When they are 'called' due to emergency, they serve as reserve members of the Great Alliance. However, if the student decides to participate in advanced courses or work more actively as a member of the Great Alliance, they may work towards the elite Zion Corps status. If in an event where The Foreigner is called away from New Masada for active duty, the Zion Corps take over operations and acts as a special ops force against hostile targets.

So what's the Great Alliance? What's their backstory? And why did the Tartalians go to them instead of the Justice League?
