Ichigo appears to be a normal 16 year-old human, except for his hair color. His street clothes vary, but normally he is seen dressed as in the topmost picture, or in his school uniform. His appearance changes when he uses his Combat Pass or an artificial soul to leave his human form, and he gains Shinigami robes, with the addition of the red strap across his chest that holds Zangetsu when it is not in use.
When he uses his Bankai, his appearance changes yet again. The picture at the top of the profile shows his appearance in Bankai form. This form gives him a long black coat to replace his Shinigami attire. The coat has a red lining and is closed at the chest, but left to flare out at the ends.
Personality:
Ichigo is a protector at heart. He claims that his name comes from "ichi" for First Prize and "go" for Guardian Angel. He goes to great lengths to defend those close to him. He has very little regard for his own safety when protecting those close to him. He's stubborn and impuslive. He claims not to care what others think of him, but attempts to maintain a detatched and "cool" attitude. Ichigo himself has acknowledged his hot-headedness, saying that if someone picks a fight with him, he can't help fighting back. However, he is really quite compassionate, especially with the Plus souls that he encounters.
Ichigo has a complex sense of humor in battle. He attempts to punish his enemies for things that they have done, such as instilling the fear of being murdered in a serial killer Hollow. He often taunts his opponents and attacks without warning. He prefers to win fights legitimately, and will not resort to handing control over to his Inner Hollow under most circumstances, evin if it would allow him to win.
Ichigo is a highly capable student, ranked 23rd in his class at school. He works as hard as he does to disprove the conclusions that people jump to because of his natural orange hair and the many fights he gets into. Some things he cannot stand are psychics, exorcists, and anyone else who takes money from people for things they cannot see. He also despises traitors. People who betray their comrades have sunken to the lowest possible level in Ichigo's mind. Ichigo rarely respects those older than him or in higher authority, calling the Head Captain of the Gotei 13 "gramps" and addressing several Soul Society captains without the proper title. His language is rough and direct, cutting straight to the point with little to no embellishment or sugar-coating.
Abilities & Weaknesses:
Powers/Abilities
- Spiritual Form: When utilizing his Shinigami powers for combat, Ichigo's body is not present. This poses some interesting side-effects. For starters, unless a mod-soul or artificial soul is used to release Ichigo's spirit from his body, said body will be effectively dead, with no vital signs at all. Secondly, Ichigo is not visible to people who cannot comprehend a Shinigami's spiritual pressure. Most heroes, villains, vigilantes, and students of the Academy have enough spirit pressure of their own to where Ichigo is visible in this form, however, the average civilian will be unable to see, touch, or hear him, and Ichigo cannot touch them either. He can still manipulate inanimate objects that are not being touched by a person. Ichigo normally leaves his body in the care of an artificial soul while using his soul reaper abilities. If this is not feasible, he will find a concealed location to utilize his Combat Pass and leave his body behind.
- Shinigami Abilities: Ichigo's soul is not bound to his body by a chain of fate like most human souls are. His Shinigami abilities also allow him to utilize a Zanpakuto. He has the capacity to learn Kido, or Demon Magic, if he wanted, but he currently does not see a need. Any wounds dealt to Ichigo in his Shinigami form will manifest on his physical body when he returns to it. However, Ichigo's spiritual pressure protects both his soul and his body, giving both these forms enhanced durability. While he is far from invulnerable, he is tough. Ichigo has also obtained a decent degree of proficiency with Shunpo, or Flash Steps. This Shinigami Technique allows him to move at an extremely high speed for a short distance, and is used in combat to confuse the opponent and gain tactical advantage. The farthest Ichigo can Shunpo at once is fifty feet, and Shunpo must be performed in a straight line, and Ichigo cannot use Shunpo to move through solid objects.
- Zanpakuto: Ichigo's Zanpakuto, or Soul Slayer, is named Zangetsu. Zanpakuto normally have three forms. There is a base form, the Shikai form, and the Bankai form. Zangetsu, however, no longer has a base form. It defaults to the Shikai form, seen in the picture above of Ichigo in Shinigami form. The cloth wrapping the hilt and flowing off the end is sturdy enough to support the massive blade's weight, and has even been used to spin the sword at high speed like a giant fan blade.
- Getsuga Tensho: This ability uses Ichigo's own spirit force to fuel it. It is the only non-physical technique he knows. Ichigo has been shown to utilize up to three in quick succession. After gathering a small amount of his spirit force inside the blade, Ichigo slashes, releasing a blue crescent-shaped piece of energy with a variable amount of energy. Ichigo normally uses it with a little more power than an actual hit from Zangetsu, but can focus his energy and produce enough power to slice through a building.
- Bankai: Ichigo can utilize the final stage of his Zanpakuto's release, called Bankai. This uses the full name of his sword, Tensa Zangetsu, and changes his appearance to match that of the header picture. The sword itself becomes a japanese daito, compressing Ichigo's spiritual pressure to increase his speed and control, while also boosting his strength. The sword's crossguard represents the kanji for "ban", which means full, as in Ban Kai, or full release. The blade is a large amount of spirit pressure condensed into a small form, and thus, is nigh indestructible. Ichigo is very skilled with Tensa Zangetsu, and any this skill carries over to any iteration of a daito sword, even in his human form, though he cannot use Getsuga Tensho with any blade except Zangetsu or Tensa Zangetsu.
- Visored Hollowfication: Ichigo's partial transformation into a Hollow has left him with an inner Hollow. This malicious part of his psyche and spirit is always attempting to gain control, though these attempts are mostly ineffective. Ichigo has gained mastery over his inner Hollow, allowing him to don a Hollow Mask, pictured through the link. To do so, Ichigo raises his hand to his face, and the mask forms out of black energy as he does. While he can only wear this mask for a few minutes at a time, he does gain several enhanced traits. His Getsuga Tensho turns black and doubles in strength, his speed increases by about 50%, and his physical strength increases by the same amount. When Ichigo releases the mask, he grabs the edge and simply pulls it off, and it dissipates into the black energy from which it was formed. This skill can only be utilized while Ichigo is also performing his Bankai.
Weaknesses/Physical Flaws/Psychological Flaws:
- Ichigo's Inner Hollow has been known to reveal itself when Ichigo is in mortal peril, and/or completely outclassed by his opponent. This malicious entity is the exact opposite of Ichigo himself, and much, much stronger. When he manifests, Ichigo's hollow mask forms over half his face. Hollow Ichigo is maniacal, sadistic, manipulative, and, above all, completely murderous. Ichigo has enough control to where he can almost always stop his rampaging inner Hollow from doing too much damage by removing the mask.
- Ichigo is also the epitome of a tragic hero, willing to lay down his life for his comrades. He's rather reckless in combat and he has little heed for his own safety.
- In his human form, Ichigo cannot defend himself from attacks by spiritual beings, as his body limits his spiritual pressure. However, he can still be hurt by these beings.
- If Ichigo's body were to be destroyed while he was in spirit form, he would obviously be unable to return to it, and would need to procure a faux body for any business involving the world of the living. A faux body has the same physical capabilities as the average human, but a Soul Reaper's attunement to the body can be shaky, resulting in a slight lag in reaction time. All in all, Ichigo's original body would be much better than a faux one, thus the protective measures he utilizes, such as Artifical Souls and simply concealing his body.
- Overuse of Getsuga Tensho can exhaust Ichigo, since each strike consumes a piece of spiritual pressure. While Ichigo's spiritual pressure is high enough that this is normally not a problem, the increased drain of using it during a Hollowfication means that after a Hollowfication ends, he will be unable to use Getsuga Tensho for a few minutes.
- Ichigo cannot stand anyone who would betray their allies. If confronted with two threats, and both posed the same threat, but Ichigo only knew one to be a traitor, that one would be a priority. Sometimes, Ichigo would even go after the lesser threat first because of traitorous actions that he has seen. Backstabbers are the lowest of the low in Ichigo's mind, and this hatred has shown to cloud his judgement on multiple occasions.
History:
(You guys seemed to be cool with this from what I saw on Edward's profile. I took the early childhood portion from the Bleach Wiki because I am guilty of skipping some of those parts of the anime to get to the actual plot and yeah... The first few bits are not mine.)
Ichigo was born on July 15th, as the son of Isshin Kurosaki and Masaki Kurosaki, 15 years before he became a Shinigami. His sisters Karin Kurosaki and Yuzu Kurosaki were born a few years later. When he was four, Ichigo joined a karate dojo, where he met and befriended Tatsuki Arisawa. Tatsuki beat Ichigo in every match they had. Tatsuki would also help Ichigo if he was being picked on by bullies and cheer him up if he was upset.
Ichigo was able to see Pluses for as long as he could remember. He could see them so clearly that, as a child, he could not tell the living from the dead. This resulted in him appearing to other people to be looking at deserted places and talking to himself. This caused people to say that he could see ghosts, though when Tatsuki Arisawa asked him about this, he denied being able to see them.
On June 17th, when Ichigo was nine years old, he and his mother were walking home alongside one of Karakura Town's rivers; which was swollen from heavy rain. Ichigo saw a girl near the river and thought that she was about to jump into it. Unable to tell the difference between ghosts and living people, Ichigo ran towards her to stop her, unaware that the girl was the lure of the Hollow Grand Fisher. Masaki tried to stop him, but he did not listen. After failing to grab hold of the girl, Ichigo lost consciousness for a time. When he awoke, Masaki was lying on top of him, covered in blood. Starting the day after Masaki's death, Ichigo repeatedly skipped school to go to the riverbank where Masaki died. Tatsuki found him there, where he would stay from morning until night, wandering along the bank as if searching for his mother; squatting down if he was tired and then wandering some more.
One day when Ichigo was twelve, prior to the Clinic opening, he heard the bell ring and answered the door to find a girl with her brother on her back. He had been in a car accident and was covered in blood. The clinic did not have the equipment necessary to save him and he died before an ambulance arrived to transfer him to Karakura Hospital. Sometime later, he learned that the girl was Orihime Inoue.
Ichigo later entered Mashiba Junior High School. During this time, Ichigo had finally defeated Tatsuki in a karate match and had not had another match with her since. Ichigo regularly got into fights with thugs, due to the unusual color of his hair. During one of these fights he received help from Yasutora Sado. Shortly after Ichigo returned the favor when he rescued Chad from two gang members roughing him up. When the thugs later abducted Chad, Ichigo found them and knocked down their leader, Yokochini. He used Yokochini's phone to ring for an ambulance for each of the five thugs, and then beat up all of them. After Chad was freed they made a pact to protect and fight for each other, they have remained good friends since.
Shortly before Ichigo became a Shinigami, he and Chad began attending Karakura High School, and their reputations preceded them. During a fight with a gang led by Reiichi Ōshima, Ichigo and Chad met Keigo Asano and Mizuiro Kojima, saving the former in the process. While Keigo was initially afraid of Ichigo and Chad, both he and Mizuiro later became friends with them.
((The rest of this is MINE. Either my own words summarizing the Bleach anime, or my original modifications to make him fit in with his role as a swordsmanship instructor at New Masada Academy, and the actual history is as condensed and spoiler free as possible.)
One evening, Ichigo sees Rukia Kuchiki in his room. Suspecting the girl to be a burglar, he kicks her. As Isshin comes up and asks what the ruckus was, Ichigo realizes that Rukia is a ghost. However, he does not believe her explaination of the Shinigami until Rukia binds him with Kido. As this happens, a Hollow attacks the Kurosaki Clinic, and Ichigo, hearing his sister Yuzu screaming, breaks out of the Kido binding him and rushes the Hollow with a baseball bat in a completely ineffective attack. After Rukia protects Ichigo, sustaining serious injury in the process, she offers to temporarily transform Ichigo into a Shinigami. Ichigo accepts, allowing Rukia to stab him through the chest and gaining Shinigami powers. He easily defeats the Hollow, collapses, and awakens the next day to find that his family's memory of the previous night had been replaced.
After defeating several Hollows, learning some basic swordsmanship, and confronting the Grand Fisher, the Hollow who had killed his mother, Ichigo discovered that the transfer of Shinigami powers to a human is a felony in Soul Society, the home of the Shinigami. Captain Byakura Kuchiki, Rukia's adoptive brother, and Lieutenant Renji Abarai are sent to retrieve Rukia. They do so, and Byakura gravely injures Ichigo, shattering the two centers of his Shinigami spiritual power. Ichigo is found by Urahara Kisuke, the owner of a candy shop that also sells items for Shinigami on assignment in the Human World. Ichigo trains with Kisuke, regaining his Shinigami powers and unlocking Zangetsu's Shikai form. Ichigo discovers that his friends Chad, Orihime, and Ishida have each got their own spiritual abilities, and the four go to Soul Society with the purpose of rescuing Rukia.
The four go to the gates of the Seireitei and Ichigo easily defeats the Gatekeeper. However, their path is blocked by Captain Ichimaru, who seriously injures the Gatekeeper Gindanbou as punishment for failing. They find Shiba Kuukaku, and utilize the Kido Cannonball technique to launch themselves over the wall and through the barrier surrounding the inner part of the Soul Society. After much confrontation, Ichigo makes it to Rukia's cell, but finds his way blocked by Byakura. The captain easily incapacitates Ichigo, who spends the next three days training to unlock his Bankai. He does so successfully, and interrupts Rukia's execution, destroying the Sōkyoku and subsequently dueling with and defeating Byakura. He then confronts the traitor Aizen, who extracts an object called the Hōgyoku from its hiding place in Rukia's soul and easily defeats Ichigo, leaving him for dead.
Ichigo, with healing from the 4th Squad of the Gotei 13, quickly recovered from this injury and returned to the world of the living. There, he joined a group of heroes in Japan by the name of the Grand Alliance. Over the next year, Ichigo trained, improving his swordsmanship, strength, and his mastery over Shunpo by protecting the citizens of Japan from Hollows and other supernatural threats, as well as superpowered criminals with enough power to see and feel beings of spiritual energy such as Shinigami. He was present when the Tartalians landed on Earth, though he did not participate in any negotiations. He supports the alien race and their goal wholeheartedly, and has taken up a position in New Masada Academy, teaching swordsmanship to any students who require instruction in the art.
RP Sample:
Another wooden sparring blade went soaring across the field. Another student handily disarmed by the Substitute Soul Reaper, Ichigo Kurosaki. Another student in need of chastisement by their teacher.
"No, that's all wrong. You can't use a sword like that with one hand. It's too large. Your balance is all off."
The student tried to object, citing superhuman strength as the reason he could do that, and pointing out Ichigo's method of fighting with Zangetsu, saying that he ought to be able to teach someone else how to do that. Ichigo sighed.
"How am I supposed to teach you something like that? Does your weapon have a name and a spirit? I don't think so. You're an idiot if you think you can fight like a Shinigami as a human. You've got to learn a human fighting style to use a human sword. Now, go pick up your weapon, and let's see if you can last four seconds this time."
The student sighed before retrieving the wooden sparring blade, and returning to face Ichigo before rushing his mentor with the wooden zweihander, gripped in both hands this time. Ichigo raised his practice daito, easily intercepting the strike as his Shinigami robes billowed around him from his musclebound pupil's strength being completely intercepted. Both wooden swords started to crack under the pressure, and Ichigo stepped back, bringing the practice sword up and yet again flicking the larger wood blade to the side.
"Better, but still room for improvement. Now, go and wait, and let's let someone else have a turn."

Ichigo is pure win. Frankly, I'm shocked he's not been claimed already.
