The calm before the storm. The dust is settling, things are moving forward, and objectives are being completed. In the middle of all of this is the Horned Frog. A major instrument of creating the bridge between humanity and an alien species, and the first and last line of defense against the unknown adversary. An unknown adversary with possibly superior numbers and an agenda to wipe out both civilizations in one fell swoop. As he sat in a comfortable corner seat in the Lounge Area of the Great Hall of the Great Alliance Headquarters, the Foreigner looked around at what time and a lot of money have built. A shrine of concrete and steel, laced with marble and glass; dedicated to what was supposed to be the greatest collection of international heroes in recent memory. For now, it was his sanctuary to relax and let things sink into his brain. He was waiting for an old friend, one of the original members of the Great Alliance itself.
Honey Kisaragi, known also the Warrior of Love --- Cutie Honey. A friendship that started before the formation of the Great Alliance. Before the demon Naraku and his defeat at the hands of this organization for common defense. Before the Tartalian arrival on Earth. Before inheriting the torch burdened with responsibility. Honey was now a model, able to move around and even be normal for once. The things that David would do to be 'normal' again. The only thing 'normal' about this job was meeting young men and women who were just like him. Yet even that was not normal. They had gifted abilities, as David had recruited and rounded them up from all four corners of the Earth. Gathering the lost and unforgiven, extending a hand of opportunity and redemption. Sadly, with most of the original members off the island to pursue their own lives, he and Lind were the ones who remained. Sure, they were supported by staff, employees, and the helping hand of the Tartalians; something didn't feel right. He wanted someone 'normal' to talk to. Even if that 'normal' was on magazines and earned a well-to-do living.
Yet, the Frog had to rethink those thoughts and confirmed them. Lind was strictly either business or wanted to skirmish to keep pushing the Horned Frog's abilities. Gina was either discussing tactics or asking David about human culture while giving insight into her race's own element of experience. The students were either complaining about Lind's training or the classes they needed to take to complete their core curriculum. And as much as he was keeping track of world events through numerous news outlets, it was easy to tune out the Global News Network within five minutes. On top of working on the numerous projects with the University of New Masada itself and teaching an advanced course of Morals and Ethics, this was tuckering him out. It felt that all the training he had with the enigmatic Chou Sen didn't do much in preparing him for voluntarily running himself into the ground. Thank goodness for energy drinks and coffee.
He was tired, letting his violet eyes close. Letting the creeping hands of sleep take over him. He was still in his typical black military-esque gear, his boots upon the footrest in front of him as his head rested on the back of the black leather couch. The Frog's breathing slowed, his chest rising and falling in a calm, steady pace. His black hair pushing up as it pressed into the furniture, his facial expression neutral and relaxed. If Honey didn't arrive, this would a great time for him to nod off and take a small cat nap. Cat naps like this were good for him, as it replenished the midnight oil that he would need for more work to be done. It did not help that he had isolated himself from the constant noise of the campus outside, deaf to students moving to and from classes in the buildings surrounding the Great Hall. Isolation that he dearly wanted for just a few moments. Until Kisaragi would come in, and in hearing her heels click against the floor would give him warning to open his eyes and engage in a friendly conversation.
Before the formation, the Foreigner and Cutie Honey had been a loosely affiliated team. Both were considered the new vanguard of vigilantism in the sprawling city of Tokyo. Both were hungry to eradicate organizations that threatened the status quo, and both had different reasons to follow through with their agendas. It was an alliance of convenience; the policy of 'I scratch your back, and you'll scratch mine'. Time had passed and as the Horned Frog began to open himself up slightly, he had accepted a simple friendship. Meeting up not only on patrols and preemptive strikes against the likes of Panther Claw and the Dark Church, but partnering up for a social event or just some personal time. That's where they had talked about each other, and their motives for doing the things they did. This route of forgoing the proper channels and taking the law into their hands. Mutual respect had blossomed right alongside this friendship, even as their personal missions were seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
As the light brightened, Naraku appeared. The older torch bearers in the Sailor Senshi had to look beyond their fuku-dressed companions and sought heroes that suddenly emerging around them. Heavenly beings such as the Goddess Belldandy and demonic figures like the ultra violent Devilman, from the protector of the realm of death in Ichigo Kurosaki to the more technology driven vigilantes in the Horned Frog and Cutie Honey. Along with the legendary yokai, InuYasha and his human companion Kagome, their combined forces were overwhelming compared to the Spider Demon. This battle would write the last chapter for Naraku, as he was vanquished for all time. Belldandy proposed keeping this new 'alliance' together, just in case of further emergencies to which Sailor Moon readily accepted.
Soon after, David was suddenly thrusted into the leadership role by the now part-time Sailor Moon, who had a normal, working life to return to. It was then that the turn-over started: InuYasha and Kagome slipped back into the days of Feudal Japan, Akira Fudo had personal demons to contend with and dropped out, and Belldandy was expecting a child with Keiichi Morisato. In their places, Barbara Gordon stepped in as the Justice League acknowledged a new league of 'superheroes', Yggdrasil sending Lind to act as the representative of Heaven to the Alliance, among many others. Leaving only Ichigo, Kisaragi, and the Horned Frog to move forward with new faces to represent this loose confederation.
The Tartalians arrived and things had changed. The Alliance was now a broad organization and New Masada Island was created to harbor the needs both this alien race and a new crop of educated heroes. The university was built, and the Horned Frog now sat on the mountain. Overlooking everything and preparing, never to tire or rest in the face of annihilation. Yet these few precious moments were needed. David Rosenzweig was ready to meet again with an old friend. An old friend to encourage him and push him onwards. To provide those exhausted muscles strength to lead and to defend until his last breath is given.
