Appearance:
Idun is the beautiful goddess of youth. She stands about 5'7" at 135 lbs. Long red hair flows down her back and surrounds her face, accentuating her violet eyes. An excellent figure of 33 - 22 - 33, she is definitely a sight to see. Seeming to embody the idea of youth, Idun serves her personification well. Inspiring the feeling of youth wherever she goes, many find themselves drawn to her.
Idun has almost a willowy quality to her, seeming to sway with the wind and has a tendency to follow it when she walks. Her violet eyes are very gentle and warm to those under her charge but the emotion in them changes drastically should you earn her ire.
Personality:
There is a mellowness and sense of relaxation in the air around her. Idun has elegance, charm and good taste, is naturally kind, very gentle, and lover of beauty, harmony (both in music and social living) and the pleasures that these bring.
She has good critical faculty and is able to stand back and look impartially at matters which call for an impartial judgment to be made on them. But she dos not tolerate argument from anyone who challenges her opinions, for once she has reached a conclusion, its truth seems to her self-evident; and among her faults is an impatience of criticism and a greed for approval. But she is on the whole balanced, diplomatic and even tempered.
Idun is sensitive to the needs of others and has the gift, sometimes to an almost psychic extent, of understanding the emotional needs of her companions and meeting them with her own innate optimism - she is the kind of person of whom it is said, "She always make you feel better for having been with her." She is a very social person. She loathes cruelty, viciousness and vulgarity and detests conflict between people, so she does her best to cooperate and compromise with everyone around her, and her ideal for her own circle and for society as a whole is unity.
Her cast of mind is artistic rather than intellectual, though she is usually too moderate and well balanced to be avant garde in any artistic endeavor. She has good perception and observation and her critical ability, with which she is able to view her own efforts as well as those of others, gives her work integrity.
In her personal relationships she shows understanding of the other person's point of view, trying to resolve any differences by compromise, and is often willing to allow claims against herself to be settled to her own disadvantage rather than spoil a relationship. She likes the opposite sex to the extent of promiscuity sometimes, and may indulge in romanticism bordering on sentimentality.
The negative side of Idun's character may show frivolity, flirtatiousness and shallowness. It can be changeable and indecisive, impatient of routine, colorlessly conventional and timid, easygoing to the point of inertia, seldom angry when circumstances demand a show of annoyance at least; and yet Idun can shock everyone around her with sudden storms of rage(fairly terrifying I might add). Her love of pleasure may lead her into extravagance; Idun can be extravagant, jealous and careless about money sometimes squander her wealth and talents in her over enthusiasm for causes which she espouses. A characteristic of Idun's that cannot be ignored is an insatiable curiosity that tempts her to inquire into every social scandal in her circle.
Abilities & Weaknesses:
Here is a list of your character's strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. Describe each one in decent detail.
Powers/Abilities
- Flight -- just like all goddesses, Idun can fly about.
- Wishes -- as her first assignment, Idun is normally assigned to the Goddess Relief office and as such can grant wishes to those she gets assigned to. Currently she is on a special assignment and so does not grant wishes except for on the rare occasion that she does a few hours in the office or if you catch her while drunk.
- Incantations -- like all goddesses, Idun can draw magic circles and cast more powerful spells with a little preparation.
- Telepathy -- an innate goddess ability, Idun is able to read the minds of others, as well as speak via telepathy.
- Teleportaion -- through the medium of wind, Idun can jump from one place to another. A gust of wind surrounds her and seems to blow her corporeal form away, reappearing wherever she wishes.
- Forge -- able to create mystical weapons and armor, this is the main reason for Idun's special assignment.
- Angel -- Blue Guardian -- an incorporeal angel that comes out of her bakc and is used as a focus for her more powerful abilities. Blue guardian is unusual for an angel in the fact that she has blue skin and green willowy hair filled with small leaves. She has violet eyes like her goddess counterpart and white wings.
- Concussive thunder -- a directed sonic boom which comes from her clapping her hands in any direction and powered by Blue Guardian.
- Thor's Hammer -- lightning bolts shoot from her fingertips.
- Rejuvenating Rain -- with the assistance of Blue Guardian she summons a healing rain with a sung incantation.
Equipment:
- War hammer -- a large two-handed hammer with but one special ability. The hammer itself can change form to serve whatever purpose the weilder has. It can go from a blacksmithing hammer to a weapon of war in the blink of an eye and is also an impecable amplifier for channeling power into incantations.
Weaknesses/Physical Flaws/Psychological Flaws:
- Like all goddesses, Idun has an alternate power source. In order to recharge, she must consume ridiculous amounts of pocky.
- Despite assumptions, she can be killed. It's just extremely difficult.
- Carbonated beverages get her drunk.
- Idun is a sucker for romance. The slightest chance there is for romance and she tends to jump at it.
- Her charges. Anyone put under her charge is given her eternal protection. She will never stop watching over and protecting them until the day they die of old age.
- Extremely gullible at times. Tends to want to believe everyone is honest.
- Vengeful. If someone harms one of her charges, she will devote herself to hunting them down and seeing to it that they never harm anyone again, whether that means containment or death.
History:
Idun was born to the god Baldr and the goddess Nanna on a parallel dimension known as Heaven, or Yggdrasil to its residents. In this realm goddesses and gods go about, monitoring the Earth of this dimension. Her life was a fairly simple one. She grew up like any goddess in training, going through her schooling and doing all she could. When she was 5, she was assigned a mentor, Njord, a high up god in Yggdrasil. She took lessons from him every day and studied very hard. Idun received the highest marks for her age level. She had spent much of her life idolizing the goddesses Lind Belldandy and wanted to be just like them.
At her graduation, it was Baldr that announced she would be working in the Goddess Relief Office, granting wishes to mortals. She was overjoyed to be put into the same position that her idol Belldandy had been in. However, at the same time, she was disappointed that she wasn't going to find a place amongst the valkyries. So, to suplement her loss, Idun trained on her own so that she would still be ready should Yggdrasil ever go to war.
Her hard worked paid off when she was recently transferred to New Masada to train under Lind to eventually take up a teaching position and help mold the new recruits and prepare them for battle. It seems that her hobby of forging mystical arms and armor might finally come in handy.
RP Sample:
Halinor produced a weak smile at Lucius' question of concern. He was a gentle man when he wanted to be. But, like his son, he would put up a front around most people, letting very few see the real him inside. More than likely it was out of fear that someone would find him weak. Even though her father already did, she gathered that Lucius didn't care for the opinions of 'brutes' like Fenrir. He was merely muscle. What brain could there be in there, right?
But in all actuallity, Fenrir was a very smart man. However, what point was there showing that to some meatsack who probably wouldn't understand the magnitude of his intelligence in the first place. Her father really didn't have a good opinion of humans. Every human was worthless in his eyes and should be dealt with like a horse with a broken leg. Although, Fenrir's opinion about useless horses was that they made good meals at feast time. That thought was just stomach turning. Human flesh tasted horrible and, unfortunately, Halinor knew that from experience.
She cleared her throat again. No, Professor. I'm alright. I have just had a lot on my mind recently and it's starting to take it's toll. Just average school stress. NEWTs and all. Her mind finally wandered back to the young men in her life. Two of those men actually had an interest in her, even if one felt as though he had been betrayed. Is getting even really betrayal? Then there was the other young man, the heir to her father's pack, who was forced to be with her. She didn't want that. If someone was going to spend the rest of their lives with her, she wanted them to do it because they wanted to be with her. A betrothal just seemed so medieval. She had thought that only a select few pure-bloods did that anymore.
Is there anything else you wanted to speak to me about, Professor? I hope that you no longer have any concerns about me in your class. That couldn't have been the only reason he had summoned her here. He had known her practically her entire life. He had never once seen her lose control of the inner wolf and she never really had. There had only been once when she was protecting Angel from another werewolf that hadn't been a part of the pack. A rogue she had gathered at the time. But what would cause him to think that she would lose it in a classroom setting? Never. If she ever thought that she might she would excuse herself.
This had to be for another reason? Did he know about the situation with Draco? Had Draco told him about it? Her mind then started racing once more. Her memories of Draco spinning in circles around the memory of the last two conversations she had had with him. One, the confession in the North Tower, where he had chosen that muggle born Hermione over her. But she could understand that. At least Hermione was human. Then there was the argument in the Spare Classroom. He had gotten so upset. Had that been because he loved her and was enraged that someone else had her first? Or was it because he just didn't like the guy it had been with? There were so many different possibilities that her head was starting to hurt.
