Unforseen Influence (Open)

A single large bus pulled away from the arrivals terminal, leaving behind a slowly parting crowd of people. People of all sizes and shapes simply picked up their things and walked away, however one thing seemed to stand out in this sea of people. A small child, looking to be just turning twelve was standing alone in the crowd, her stark white clothes and pale skin making her stand out in the sea of colors around her. Her amber eyes looking about worriedly, like a rabbit in a cage she seemed to look about as if anything were about to attack her. Once the crowds had parted enough for her to see beyond the people, her mouth went agape. She had never seen such massive buildings before, and so many people in one place! How did they not crush each other she pondered. She began to move with the crowd, passing under the large sign saying 'Welcome to Jump City'

The small child looked about in aw as she walked, not really paying attention to where she was going.

Until the screech of tires and the honk of a horn brought her back down to earth.

Narret had inadvertently began crossing the street right as the lights had changed. The moving sports car just stopping inches from her. "Hey you brat get off the road!" the man within shouting as he he gave her another blast of his horn. With the second blast the small child bolted from the street and back on to the sidewalk. An older man looked down at the girl. "What in blue blazes where you doin out there kid? Yah coulda been killed!" Under the stare of the man the small child cowered slightly. "I.... I ugh..... I d-d-don't know..... I g-g-got a little l-l-lost....." She managed to mutter out in a whisper. The man just arched an eyebrow at the girl. "Ugh, kids these days don't know up from left....." Not able to stand the stare anymore, Narret just shook her head. "I'm...... I'm r-r-really s-s-sorry!" She said as she bolted, not liking the attention from the older man. With her small size she was able to easily dart through the crowds, until she crashed into someone. Her small frame and ultra lightweight body would feel like a small shove to the one she hit, her however was sent to the pavement with a resounding thud. "Ow......."

Vanessa was dazed and confused, feeling lost amongst the oceans of people that surrounded her; claustrophobic. She didn't register the sudden jolting sensation of being run into, until a few seconds later. The older women glanced down, tilt her head to the side as her dark green eyes scanned the small child, subconsciously trying to pick out any bruises or scrapes she may have obtained from her little fall. She was satisfied, at least, knowing the girl wasn't hurt too bad, aside from a potential bruised bottom, which just meant she'd have to sit on a soft cushion. Vanessa knelt down in front of her and preforming her best smile (which was still pretty half-assed), she held out a hand for her to take hold of.

"Hey there kiddo, why are ya running around the streets like a headless chicken?" Vanessa was a little more than a bit concerned, noting the girl wore no shoes and seemed to lack anything else beyond her dress, which looked....for a lack of a better term, absolutely filthy. "My name's Madison Smith. You uh, you got a name kid?"

She felt strange around the girl, a little more active, like she wanted to pick up the girl, hold her tight and tell her everything was going to be okay. She didn't quite understand this reaction, didn't exactly seem to have a viable reason for thinking along those lines but it was there and no matter what she tried to think of, it seemed to just....push itself right back to her fore-thoughts, like an unavoidable itch that just had to be scratched for fear of it getting worse and Vanessa had no reason to doubt, that it would get worse if she ignored it.

Life was funny like that, things getting worse when you ignored them, hell, sometimes it got worse even when you didn't. To which, Vanessa hoped that this wasn't going to be a damned if you do, or damned if you don't moment. That would have been just perfect for her. Damned if she cared and helped, damned if she didn't care or help; a great sticky wicket if there was to be a sticky wicket today.

Narret rubbed at her tender backside for a moment, not having expected to end up on the ground so suddenly. She looked up to the one that she had ran into, and when she realized that the woman was looking at her she froze up like a dear in the headlights. In fact she recoiled slightly when Vanessa extended her hand. The small child was looking more at the hand then the woman, fear clearly in her eyes. However realization seemed to dawn in her mind as the small one became calm, her eyes traveling up her arm and looking at her.

"Um......" She managed to whisper out, her voice just barely loud enough to be heard over the sounds of the city. The small child quickly got up on her own, revealing that her 'dress' as Vanessa thought was actually a over-sized shirt. Her pants were also the same, they would look more comfortable on a large male then on such a small child. Standing at only four feet tall, and the clothes hiding her physique very well. But going off her face and hands one could take the guess that she was a thin child. "M-m-m-m-m-m-my name is N-n-n-n-n-narret........" She managed to stutter out.
