Appearance:
A full-body shot of your character if possible
[/IMG]The first thing most people will notice about Nessa is that she is quite Tall. Standing at an imposing (at least in her mind it is) Six foot two, she is not built to intimidate but rather, turn some heads. Her shoulders are narrow, but not thin, nor are they thick and overtly muscled. Her arms and legs are thin but well defined, showing she does go out of her way to at least keep herself in shape. Her stomach is toned and flat like a washboard, reflecting above all else her personal training regime. Vanessa's neck is relatively thin, a trait she inherited from her mothers side of the family and is all too happy to bring attention to, what with that spiffy tattoo sitting pretty back there. Her hips have some shape to them, being slightly curvaceous but still relatively streamlined in their appearance. Vanessa tends to balance herself between being of a perfectly healthy weight, to being slightly underweight. It all depends on what's eating her at the time (which is usually her pet projects). Her hands are small, exactly in line with someone her size. With long slender fingers. Her hands tend to be dwarfed by most everything she may handle on a day to day basis which makes her feel small and meek. Eve doesn't mind that her hands are small or slender, that just means she's more dextrous and deft handed in day to day life.
With a face shaped like a shallow raindrop, Vanessa's jawline is cut at a shallow symmetrical angle. With almond shaped eyes, of a deep dark green color, like the needles of a pine tree in the middle of summer. Her face is often spattered with grease or oil, dust and soot, giving way hints at what her profession or part-time job may be, while her hair is relatively short in the back, buzzed down and dyed a deep oceanic blue while the front is styled with long, neck length bangs and dyed a lighter cyan blue. Vanessa's chin is slightly receded and narrow, further putting emphasis on her teardrop shaped face, while her lips are thin and evenly spaced. She lacks the typical signs of having ever used make up, feeling that it's more a shallow and contrived way to attract someone instead of being who you really are.
Personality:
Very casual and reserved, perhaps a little laid-back, Vanessa isn't exactly the type of person to just strike up a conversation with someone else. Appreciating her own personal space and privacy, which in college, can be quite a nightmare with all those packed classrooms, nosy preppy chicks and jocks constantly butting into your private business. As far as people go who appreciate and understand personal space, Vanessa can be pretty chill and lax with them, not entirely overjoyed, but she does tend to appreciate it when people understand the words personal and space in the context that if she doesn't want you constantly butting in, you will do so. Politely.
Sarcastic, snippy and a bit cynical, Vanessa does have a bit of an attitude problem when someone constantly bothers her. And while she can just as easily use violence to solve these kinds of problems Jo tends to err on the side of a more tactile approach, that is to say, she likes to use the art of sarcasm and cynicism, to politely let them know they are not wanted within her immediate presence. Her way of speaking is rather simplistic and quite minimalistic, preferring to dispense with insults and thinly layered back handed comments that are more or less insults disguised as compliments. So it stands to reason that Vanessa has quite the negative side to her attitude, often coming out as soft spoken insults and a general apathetic disinterest in the other person.
However, She can be cheerful in a rather held back manner. Let it be known that Nessa is not overly enthusiastic about most things and can be quite lazy, but when she does have the air of happiness it is quite listless, with little to no energy put forth into it. But, this usually happens when she is in a generally good mood, especially once she get's her hands on a package of cigarettes will she be in a rather good mood. Other times, it is listless - lacking in energy and enthusiasm a sort of half-way point that suits her better then that of a more vivacious nature. But make no mistake, she can be a happy girl, it's just less enthusiastic then what most people expect.
Vanessa Raine Hunter is often seen as being highly independent of others, self-reliable and capable of taking care of her own messes or problems effectively. Admittedly, she has a sense of pride coming from her own independent actions; living on her own, taking care of rent, holding down a job. While she thinks nothing of it, and really, why should someone make a big deal out of it? Her pride can get the better of her sometimes causing her to reject the generosity of others in favor of doing things her own way, which, can cause a bit of a sticky wicket sometimes.
Strong willed, with a deep seeded maternal instinct, Vanessa has a soft spot or rather, a weakness for children. Despite her lackluster attitude and generally aloof nature, she can be been caring for and about children. She has no real clue why, or how she came into the possession of such emotions, nor does she really seem to feel like delving into their origins. All she knows is that she is stuck with these feelings, these tears that streak across her face when someone is hurt. Vanessa hides her emotions behind a wall, not an emotional wall like some would think, but the wall of hard physical work. Her take on the situation is that if she has no time for other people, she has no time to cry her eyes out for those same people and while true, she still has her moments. Still has those moments where she truly feels alone in the world and they eat at her.
Abilities & Weaknesses:
Here is a list of your character's strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. Describe each one in decent detail.
Powers/Abilities
- Kinetic abilities - Nessa's primary offensive ability revolves around the usage and generation of kinetic energy. With it, she can shove extremely heavy objects around, narrow the focus down so that the impact can shear or slice an object in half. Even absorb and drain kinetic energy from any physical attacks used on her, to use in her own. One of the more unique aspects of Vanessa's kinetic ability, is that while movement is the most common way of generating (and it does help her generate it) kinetic energy, she doesn't actually need to be on the move to generate her share of kinetic energy.
Her body is wired up in such a way, that her bodies mitochondria generate not only the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) that the billions upon billions of cells in her body uses as a source of chemical energy. But it also transmutes the excessive amount of ATP and thus, the chemical energy, into potential energy, which is further transmuted into kinetic energy. Leading to a sort of perpetually regenerating energy source
Kinetic concentration - Nessa's body is laced with a massive amount of kinetic energy, and the best way she can utilize it is by concentrating a majority of it into either her legs or arms. The desired effect of this ability is that it increases her speed or strength to exponential levels. For a very brief amount of time, her maximum strength is pushed into abnormally superhuman levels in an excess of thirty tonnes.
Kinetic strike - By lacing that same kinetic energy around her fists or feet, she can augment her striking force to that of super human levels. This is for when she wants to primarily conserve her energy, but does not want to be completely defenseless against stronger people in close quarters combat. The force of these strikes are significant, as each strike discharges a burst of kinetic energy that produces enough force to knock either a five hundred pound steel drum of oil through the air at it's lowest charge, or at it's highest possible charge, she can readily damage the thick armor plating of a united states M1 Abrams main battle tank.
Her kinetic strikes however can also be focused, using less energy over all, but more focus to generate a focused point of energy that lances through the target, dealing heavy damage.
Kinetic blasts - Vanessa is capable of firing heavy, high powered shots of concentrated kinetic energy from her hands that can range from low power rapid fire cherry tapping (machine gun punches from long range) to the aforementioned heavy cannon blasts, when charged long enough. The effects are relatively simple, the low powered shots are weak and can do some decent damage on a normal person while the big shots, especially the overcharged shots, are more ideal for taking out heavy armor, or the tougher targets that cherry tapping won't work on.
In the same line of her kinetic blasts, Nessa is capable of narrowing the width of the projected energy turning it into a sort of shearing force that not so much cuts into the target, as it rips and tears it's way through. The focus needed to focus a single cannon level charge into one is considerable, while focusing her aforementioned cherry tapping shots into shears capable of cutting flesh but not much else takes very little focus. Overall, she has found little to no use for this but has noted that the ability to focus her blasts into kinetic shear is very effective against thick, reinforced steel and other such hard metals.
Kinetic nova - A sudden build up then expulsion of kinetic energy, Nessa's kinetic nova is a sort of desperation or "breathing room" attack. By focusing large amounts of kinetic energy into her body and then releasing it around her as a short range, omnidirectional attack, she can cause quite a bit of devastation in her immediate vicinity, sort of like a few hundred pounds of composite four plastique explosive. Very devastating against almost everyone and everything caught in the blast, but is countered by the relatively short range of around twenty five feet and the build up time. - Regeneration/healing - One quirky thing about her kinetic abilities is quite literally, the ability to hasten ones own bodies natural healing factor. Simply by giving the body a small kinetic boost directed at the bodies cells, she can speed up ones ability to recover from broken bones, cuts, scrapes, gashes or even bullet wounds (provided the bullets been removed prior).
As a side effect, her own healing factor has been given a small nudge in the right direction. This little boost effectively allows her to recover from broken bones within two or three weeks, severe lacerations within two days and minor cuts and scrapes within a few hours. - Phase walk - An ability unique to herself and herself only. Jo is one of the rare few people to possess the ability to phase walk, by shifting her physical self to another dimension she becomes completely and utterly, invulnerable to everything thrown at her (which includes magical attacks), whilst simultaneously being able to walk through solid objects and increasing her top running speed into the hundreds of miles an hour category. The trade off to this? the inability to attack in any way, shape or form, a long cool down period once she exits out of it and a finite amount of uses per day (roughly three times a day)
When phased out of this dimension (but still technically anchored here), she appears out of focus, blurred and lacking solidity to her form; Appearing to be a glowing white wire frame version of herself.
Weaknesses/Physical Flaws/Psychological Flaws:
- Phase injuries - Vanessa's phase walk is a powerful tool, invulnerable during it's use, the ability to negate any effects on her body, coupled with becoming intangible and being able to run at inhumanly fast speeds. Some may think what a great ability, but the drawbacks are anything but great. The more she uses it, the more fatigue she accumulates on her body, the more fatigue she accumulates the slower she becomes.
But that's only a minor drawback. The key drawback to phase walking is that she can't handle multiple phase walks in a single day. Two is about the limit for her and three is pushing it, that's when the fatigue starts to set in on her body, after say, four she starts suffering actual physical injuries. Cuts, scrapes, gashes broken bones, even death, if she were to completely be forced into going overboard with it. Phase walk isn't something she should mess around with, she knows that but sometimes you gotta suffer to survive. - Heavy cost - Vanessa's abilities, while spectacular and capable of classifying her as a one women artillery piece, tend to have some hefty costs. Since all of these abilities are somewhat physical in nature, they tend to tax heavily on her stamina and fatigue (with the exception of her kinetic melee attacks). But, while it may take quite a few uses and abuses of any one attack to really start taking it's toll on her, she generally limits herself when using any of her attacks at their fullest power. For any of her attacks she can fire maybe five a day at maximum charge before fatigue starts setting in on her.
Anything past that (and much like the phase walk, she doesn't really have a limit in the typical sense that she can't spam it anymore), will cause physical injury. Broken bones being the more common occurrence with deep tissue trauma and internal bleeding occurring at a more uncommon juncture but becomes increasingly more common, the more she pushes herself. - Independently prideful - Vanessa is a prideful women, independent and strong, she prefers to do things her own way and her own way she does things. Stubborn to a fault on her own beliefs, she will flat out refuse the help from anyone and everyone unless given a solid reason to do so and even then she accepts the help with a begrudging smile. Sometimes however, she doesn't see the dangers or risks and may wind up getting severely hurt even flat out hospitalized because she blindly declined someones assistance.
- Kinetic Feedback - One problem with her Kinetic manipulation and this is going to be very brief, is that a stronger force can reflect the energy back her way. Though it loses some of it's force, a direct hit can still cause notable injury to her being along the same vein of damage as severe blunt trauma.
History:
All life at the beginning started with a bang, a flash of light. For this women, it started with a gasp for air.
Her name is Madison Parker smith, an alias, a half-truth, told by the people that made her. Her real name however is unknown, but the various fragmented files we have recovered from the memory banks of the sites mainframes, say something about someone called hunter and how this so called hunter was crucial in their.....project. Our goal, no, our duty, is simple; we must locate this hunter whoever they may be and ascertain what they know of this project.
Meanwhile, the data we've collected has already begun to tell us a story, albeit, an incomplete one.
-Excerpt of file #1671336-a filed by one Mr.Church-
Madison was a genetic amalgam, composed of various strands of choice DNA, "donated" from hosts the world over. Our goal was to design a super soldier, per the orders of our generous benefactors at Lexcorp. Money was of no object and we were tasked with designing and manufacturing, the prototype. The initial attempts were less than satisfactory however. Numerous catastrophic failures and unexpected deaths of our valuable subjects had set us back weeks. We couldn't fail, we had to succeed. Making a man such as Lex Luthor....angry, was not an option for those without suicidal tendencies.
So we searched far and wide, looked the world over for a suitable genetic template, someone we could use as a starting point to build up from. We robbed graves and I must admit, it was not something we were proud of. Defiling the restful dead, despite what some may think even as scientists we had our...limits and our pride, but even those limits and our pride were of little regard to Mr.Luthor. he wanted results and we were to give them to him. What we didn't expect however, was that our searching would bare us a veritable garden.
It was some kind of town, or rather, the ruins of a town. The fires that seemed to have burned it to the ground, long since died out. We found numerous dead bodies, skeletal remains showing no signs of fire damage, but rather, physical trauma, like some great beast wrecked havoc upon them. We had no desire to stay there for any amount of time, it just felt...foreboding to us we had concluded there was nothing of value here, no one left alive or even a whole, intact body to bring back. We were just about to return to the transport when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the grave-site, just sitting there.
Curiosity is part of science, curiosity and exploration and just from laying my eyes on it, my curiosity got the better of me. I ordered the grave dug up, the remains exhumed for study and if possible, brought back for tests. The remains were female, even through the decomposition, you could tell from the shape of the hips, the slenderness of the ribcage. She was the only cadaver in this ruined town that was of any use to us. So we brought her back, we brought back Miss Hunter and we used her, we used what genetic information we could collect from her body to create numerous....template bodies for us to work with.
Part of me wishes Lex Luthor never approached us. and part of me just doesn't care anymore. While what we did was legally wavered by his lawyers if we were caught, my moral stability remains teetering on a ledge of uncertainty. What we created was human, a hundred percent, but what we did to her was.....inhuman.
I express my regrets in this log and part of me is glad she escaped from here, escaped into the world at large. But I fear what may happen to us all. What is left of our labs is...I've never seen anything like it in my life! So much destruction caused by one person. Is this what that madman wanted?! An army capable of causing untold destruction? While I will always soundly express my distaste in the illogical beliefs of gods and religion I have no doubts in my mind, that if there truly is a hell...we are all going to burn.
-End personal log of the late Dr.Johnathan Blackwater, head researcher for Phoenix medical industries Cypher project-
Life is precious, sweet and beautiful. But why does it hurt to remember, why does it hurt to think or attempt to think of my past?
My name is Madison Parker Smith, a local mechanic situated in Jump city and my story is short and simple. I don't remember anything about my past, just my name and blood type. I don't even remember if I've ever lived here before, or if I even have any family that I can contact. But I've learned to deal with it, learned to cope with the stress of not knowing exactly who I am. I feel as if there is always something missing from my life, like there's a void that no matter what I try to do to fill it, it remains empty and devoid, like a barren wasteland.
But like my lack of memories I've learned to deal with it, learned to see a doctor about my depression and....my recurring nightmares. At least I think they're nightmares they feel so real as if I could reach out and touch them, reach out and feel my skin as it rots clear off the bone, or smell the blood and putrescence as it spills forth from my pores. It all feels so real to me, feels so painful, that I wake up in the middle of the night, my stomach churning and my body aching and reeling from the dreams....dreams yes, those were dreams I think.
Dreams of white men in lab coats, looming over me with syringes and knives poking and prodding, injecting me with...what? I can't tell but they are dreams. Realistic dreams, but dreams nonetheless and my doctor has prescribed me various medications, things for my depression, things for my dreams and things for my things. I feel as if I don't need all of this stuff, it feel as if all this stuff is just a temporary stop gap designed to only hold my demons at bay not stop them.
What I want right now is the truth, and while I may not get it anytime soon I know that my Name is Madison Parker Smith and I am a mechanic.

RP Sample:
The body stirred, hands moving to, from what she could tell, to pick at it's face. Coming to the conclusion that she was in fact alive, Eliza was admittedly curious about this person that sought shelter under the roof of such a lopsided lean-to. She wanted to, for the lack of a better term.....study her. It was funny, not in the funny hahah way of funny. But rather, the funny this is strange, why am I doing this funny. But she might as well have been a corpse anyways, she looked weak and frail, like she hadn't had a drop of water, or a bite of food in days; she looked absolutely bone dry parched and Nev, well Nev had a nice bottle of fresh water in her coat just waiting to be guzzled.
But there was a catch to the whole thing, she was gonna owe Nev one for this. She looks so awkward, so weak and vulnerable. Maybe I should give her some water, get into her....good graces and work from there. It was a good, sound idea at least in theory, but in practice it had little use when half the denizens of the desert tried to either kill, rape, eat or rob you blind. Not the best moments in her life but then again, not many people really knew what Nev was capable of doing, and she was quite capable of doing a lot in a short amount of time. Most of which involved either patching up her own wounds, sneaking around the wastes in the dead of night, trading or killing, especially the killing. Nev had a unique flair for it; quiet, sneaky, not a single peep beyond the soft gurgle of blood, as it mixes with the air escaping the throat. Or the subtle crack of the cervical vertebrae, brought about by a sharp, sudden twist of the neck.
Her ability to care was odd, she could care for others but she couldn't....feel bad if they got hurt or even killed. For her, it was just a fact of life in the Mojave. But here she was, caring for someone and as usual, it was mostly for her own gain. Eliza was selfish, at least, in a way that made sense in this unforgiving landscape fraught with danger and peril. But sometimes, she would wonder, wonder what it would be like to care for others, to truly feel an emotion, instead of what she copies from others. To shed a tear, to cry and wail over a loved one, she must have done this at least once in her life, cried her eyes out from pain or the fear of death? Right?
But she couldn't quite remember, couldn't place her finger on it and soon after, she shook the thought from her head as she heard, and saw the revolver, being leveled at her. The warning made no sense to Nev who simply cantered her head to the side, confused but in a way, understanding the dangers the weapon possessed. Had I come for trouble, you'd already be dead... her thoughts were ominous, foreboding and if she could speak (oh how she would love to utter even a single word), they would have had a ring of truth to them.
Letting out a low, guttural hiss, Nev stood there her hands to her sides, her jackets coattails flapping in the dusty wind as she stared right at the women and contemplated on every single vital spot of her body. From the femoral to the subclavian artery, the cerebral and the carotids. Even the C1 and C2 vertebrae. The body was a road map of easily exploitable fatalities, road maps, she often took advantage of.
But the women had the advantage, at least, until Nev found out her firearm was fresh out of slugs, and that was only a matter of time.

Creator/Player Comments:
My only comment is that I hated making this character. Like, I like her design overall, but I just hated putting her together. It was a bit of a bitch going by how long it took me.
