Appearance:
Harley is skinny, but not so skinny she looks sick. She's very atheltic and its easy to see her roots in gymnastics and the like. Not being very tall in any manner of the word, her over all physical appearance isn't very threatening at all - something that she can easily use to her advantage by playing the damsel in distress card to manipulate her enemy. Her hair is blonde, bleached up to a lighter color. It's naturally a mousey brown that she had always thought was the most dull color ever, hence the monthly trips to the beauty salon for a brighter, more blonde Harley. Her eyes are a pretty lucid blue, a color that clashes well with the reds of her outfit and the almost evil in her heart.
Personality:
Harley plays the role of the slightly silly, ditzy side kick rather well, but there is a lot more to her than just that. She has her PhD in psychiatry, needing only an internship to be a full fledged doctor. Highly intelligent as well as sneaky and manipulative make for a very dangerous woman, though most of these traits are over rided by the fact that she's so deeply in love with the Joker that she tends not to use them. She is a very spunky, powerful and determined woman who won't let anything or anyone get in the way of what she wants and could be one of the Batman's greatest foes or allies if she could just break herself from what could easily be called an addiction to the Joker.
Harley would do anything for the Joker, though she has been known on occassion to get angry with him and leave, or even attack him when he's not paying attention, though she almost always comes crawling back to him, unable to actually leave for good. She's almost completely reliant on him and dreams of one day having some sort of a normal relationship with him, perhaps marriage and kids and the like, though it's highly doubtful he feels the same way. It's easy to argue that he actually only keeps her around so he can one day get rid of her.

History:
Born Harleen Quinzel to loving and slightly wealthy parents, Harley had a relatively simple and normal childhood. Her parents were rarely around, leaving her to be raised by the maid and the butler. Her only real outlet in her youth was school, so she delved into her studies more than anyone she knew. She also took up cheerleading in her elementary school days and was one of the best on her squad. From a young age she was always drawn towards the kids who's personalities were flamboyant and quite extreme, from the most popular girl who bullied everyone else to the quiet, loner who smoked fake cigarettes behind the dumpsters. She loved watching other kids do things and trying to figure out why they did them.
Middle school began and her life remained much the same her athletics becoming more and more a big part of her life, joining both the cheerleading squad as well as the gymnastics team in the three years she spent there. She excelled in her studies as well and seemed to have everything right where she wanted it. High school rolled around and she began in studying psychology, it soon becoming her favorite subject. She tried out for the cheerleading squad for the High School but didn't make it, presumably because she wasn't quite as pretty as the other girls. It was then that she started bleaching her hair and wearing more make up. She was accepted onto the gymnastics team and she filled any spare time with karate lessons and things like that.
High school graduation finally came - Harley was top of her class, riding on a full scholarship to college for Psychology. College was quite the different experience for Harley, as there was much more to do and less time it seemed to do it in, but she passed her classes and excelled, keeping her professors on their toes. With college behind her and her degree within reach, she took an internship at Arkham Asylum, regardless of many people telling her she should choose somewhere a little less... violent. The promise of working with violent criminals almost made her want the work more, savoring the chance for something really challenging.
